Episode 20 Overview Introduction Hello and welcome to Kajabi in Five Minutes. Today is part 3 of the Forms Saga, the epic Kajabi in Five Minutes Forms Saga. We are going to be talking about automations, which is one of the most important things to do with a form. This is a great episode to tune into. If you haven't heard the last two episodes, we covered forms in general, specifically talking about double opt-in and single opt-in, and then we talked about the form fields area. Now, let's dive into automations. Automations Overview In the automations area, it's very easy to manage, especially when you're in a form. If you click the plus button that says "Add an Automation," the "when" action of the automation workflow is automatically filled out and can't be changed. It's set to "when this form is submitted" because you're in this form right now. So, you don't have to worry about connecting the automation to the form—it's already done. All you need to do is choose a "then" action. Common Automations There are lots of really useful "then" actions. The most common ones I always use are: 1. Adding a Tag: Whenever someone takes an action on a website I work on or my own site, I always add a tag. It's easy to do and can be very useful to know what type of actions people are taking on your site. 2. Sending an Email: This sends an email right away and is very simple and great. It's interesting to note that within Kajabi, the "send an email" action is not considered a marketing email. So, if someone isn't subscribed to your email list, they can still receive that email. However, if someone unsubscribes from your email list and you subscribe them to an email sequence, they will stop getting those emails. 3. Registering to an Event: If you are using the event feature in Kajabi and have a form to sign people up for that event, remember to add this automation. I would add the tag automation, the event registration automation, and handle the email in the event space. Conditional Logic Automations If you have the Growth or Pro plan of Kajabi, you get additional automations with conditional logic. This is how you can interact with your custom form fields. The process is: when the form is submitted, add a tag, choose your tag, and then add a conditional statement. There are many options, so you just have to explore them. You can add a tag only if a certain condition is satisfied. Using Conditional Logic For example, if you have two events about different things, you can use one form with a checkbox or radio button as custom form fields. In the automations, you can have different actions based on which checkbox is selected. If someone is registering for your pizza event, you can send them information related only to pizza. If they select the burrito box, you send them information about burritos—all through the same form using conditional logic automations. Practical Applications You migh...
