The 2026 Triumph Trident 660 gets a major update for the new model year, and the biggest change comes from the heart of the bike. Triumph’s 660cc Triple now produces 94 horsepower — nearly 14 hp more than before — thanks to internal upgrades like three throttle bodies instead of one, revised exhaust cams, and a higher redline. On the road, the difference is immediately noticeable. The previous Trident 660 was smooth and friendly, but arguably a bit underpowered. The updated engine transforms the bike, delivering a livelier midrange, stronger top-end pull, and a much more engaging character overall. The Trident still delivers the agile handling and approachable ergonomics that made it popular in the first place. However, the suspension is tuned more for everyday comfort than aggressive canyon riding, and the braking system — while adequate for the price — feels slightly vague due to the axial master cylinder, with ABS intervention that can be a bit overzealous. Even so, the updated Trident 660 now competes more confidently in the middleweight naked class alongside bikes like the Yamaha MT-07, Aprilia Tuono 660, and Suzuki GSX-8S. The only potential complication? Triumph’s own Triumph Trident 800 sits just $1,000 higher in the lineup. So is the 2026 Trident 660 the sweet spot of the middleweight naked class — or is it too close to its bigger sibling? Watch the full review to find out.
