The Arctic bedding concept is amazingly convenient for snow camping with a sled (pulk). It could also be adapted to car camping if you have a pickup with a canopy, or a large SUV. Tired of messing around with bedding setup at the end of a long, cold day? This will solve that problem. Also, while filming I totally forgot to mention the system's other awesome feature: packing it up is just as quick as deploying it! Straighten up the bedding slightly, buckle the straps around it, and zip up the bag. In literally SECONDS the bedding is packed up and ready to be set out of the way in the weather while breaking camp. No rolling up sleeping bags, deflating pads, etc. Just stow it, zip it, and go. My budget sleeping pad: • Budget Sleeping Pad First Impressions My oversized sleeping bag: • Guide Gear Fleece Lined Sleeping Bag Overview Upon further review, it looks like body (cadaver) bags are not hard to find and order online, though very heavy-duty models like mine are not especially common. Most look to be more lightweight and disposable. Depending on robustness and features, prices may be as low as mid-$20s or well over $100. Regardless, they still compare favorably to low-end purpose-made Arctic bedding bags, and are much less than the high-end models. Do some research and consider this option if you are interested in assembling your own Arctic bedding system. Some people may prefer lighter bags to cut down on total sled weight. I prefer the thick, durable bag. YMMV Details about the sled coming soon.
