About the Newcomer Photovoice Project. The Newcomer Photovoice Project will include an 8-week program using photography to assess the needs of newcomer communities including those living with HIV and other chronic illnesses such as diabetes, those from Africa or the Caribbean community, those who identify as LGBTQ+, trans and cis women, and those who use substances or have prior experience of using substances. Program outline. Participants will meet on Zoom every Saturday afternoon for 8 weeks starting in January 2021. You will have an opportunity to build a new community and learn how to access employment, education, health care, and other social supports in the region of Peel As a participant in the program, you will: Learn how to use a camera, which will be provided to all participants Share your stories of settling to Canada through photography, Meet new people and make connections Learn about community services near you Showcase your stories in an exhibition Have access to one-on-one settlement support Enrollment for the project has begun!
