The Great Gardener You find Him in the back corner of the cosmos, sleeves rolled up, dirt under His nails. He’s humming as He plants quasars like tulip bulbs, pockets full of comet dust. You clear your throat. “Nice universe,” you say, nodding at the swirling neon of newborn galaxies. He squints at a seedling—something pushing through the dirt. “Thanks. It’s a start.” --- You follow Him to a shed stocked with black holes and butterflies. He hands you a trowel. “Time to repot Saturn’s rings. Careful—they bite.” You work in silence until your ego itches. “So…is this all yours?” He pauses, wiping sweat with a nebula. “Funny thing about creating. The moment you say ‘mine,’ it dies a little.” --- Night falls. He leads you to a plot of scorched earth. “Watch this.” He kneels, parts the soil, and slips in a seed wrapped in spit and blood. You grimace. “That’s it?” He covers the seed with ash. “Big bangs are easy. Any dictator can explode. But this, this is the hard magic: making life from death. Slower. Messier. Looks like failure until it doesn’t.” --- You return years later. The scorched plot is now a forest where trees sing in reverse, roots clawing the sky. A child hands you a fruit that bleeds light when bitten. “Took you long enough,” you joke. He’s grafting a thorn vine to a peach branch. “You wanted a kingdom? Here it is. No thrones. No flags. Just things growing through their cracks.” --- They’ll tell you creation’s a factory. A seven-day sprint. But the gardeners know: He’s still out there, in the shadows, planting tombs with seeds that split empires. The first stars? Just mulch for the real crop— a world where the last are first, the hungry are filled, and the meek? Oh, they’re inherited. The universe is His parable. And the punchline? Resurrection. ------------------ Written and Read by: Josh Lee Produced by: Josh Lee Music by: Josh Lee Copyright 2025
