West Cumbria Coal Mine Approved! Question to DLUHC Secretary of State - 8th Dec 2022

Today, there was an Urgent Statement on the approval of the Whitehaven Coal Mine. It's clear that the opposition isn't able to look facts in the face - the mine will provide great benefits for our steel industry, will reduce our imports from across the globe, and will create high skilled jobs, not only in West Cumbria, but throughout the supply chain. There is no alternative to coking coal in steelmaking. To manufacture the renewable energy sources that we need, we require steel. Labour are all too happy to import it from across the world, creating even more emissions. I can’t understand their opposition to this. 08/12/2022
