How To Plant Nerines For Autumn Colour, How To Grow Nerines In A Container, Nerine Lilies Nerines produce a lovely display of exotic looking flowers in the Autumn. They thrive in a sunny position and will do particularly well when grown in a container. What you will need: A suitable pot or container, with drainage holes to the base. Drainage material, which can be stones, gravel, broken pieces of pot or waste polystyrene. Nerine bulbs, Compost. Fill the base of the pot with the drainage material, ideally to a depth of 2”. Place some compost into the container, coming up to a level that will allow for the bulbs plus 1” of space above. Place the bulbs onto the compost surface so that the pointed end is upmost. Fill the container with more compost, working the compost around the bulbs. Add compost until the tops of the bulbs are just covered, leaving a gap, approximately 1”, between the finished level of compost and the top of the pot. Lightly firm the compost. Put a label in the container to identify what has been planted. Place the pot in a bright and sunny position.
