Smith coined the term “racial battle fatigue” (https://goo.gl/NIdbRI) and authored a paper entitled, “Challenging Racial Battle Fatigue.” Smith concluded that African American are in a constant state of worry, they have trouble concentrating, they are easily fatigued, and even develop headaches when navigating personal and professional spaces that have historically favored white people.
