Attention, duelists! These matches represent the kinds of matches that can be had with more than just two players...so before you select "Begin Match" as soon as you've got somebody else to play with...although I would suppose that may be precisely the reason why some people prefer to choose a completely neutral stage with a single opponent. I guess I can respect that on a certain level, but then again, I can't exactly sympathize with it, because I value the chaotic potential of games like this more than I do the stability and I suppose "precision" and predictability of a more traditional fighting game. I mean, I think it's great that the flexibility is there to play these kinds of games in such a way with as much or as little unpredictability as you want, but please at least consider being flexible enough yourselves to explore the possibilities. I don't know...sorry to editorialize like that, it's not usually in my nature to tell others how to play a game...but by the same token, it doesn't sit right with me when others force themselves and others to pidgeonhole such a variable game to very limited rules and scenarios. Sure, you don't always win, and you can't meticulously control everything that happens...but that is based on the supposition that winning is more valuable than the battle itself. I don't know that I can justify a belief that it isn't, but at the same time can you necessarily justify that it is? All right, I'll cut it out, because this is supposed to be an active game, not a debate of philosophical bents...and I've probably considered this sort of thing more than I care to admit, but I at least someday hope to reach some kind of compromise and understanding with "them"...the ones I don't understand and the ones who don't understand me. --- Match #1 -- Warehouse Fugitoid (Joou) vs. Raphael (TMNT1) vs. Raving Rabbid (TMNT2) Okay, the lecture from last time is dismissed and now it's time to see how things play out in a full match...maybe less chaotic that the previous trip here, but let's see if we can't try to apply what we've learned, all right? Okay...so it's much harder to apply something you've learned than it is to learn it, particularly when the "real thing" is several magnitudes more complicated with the inclusion of an extra variable or two in the form of interplayer interactions. --- Match #2 -- Enemy Base The Shredder (Joou) vs. Master Splinter (TMNT1) vs. Foot Ninja (TMNT2) vs. Leonardo (TMNT3) Let me say one thing. The Shredder loves brawls. Free-for-alls. Seriously. He's got two absolutely devastating moves with huge windups and ranges and ridiculous damage outputs that could make a Warlock Punch jealous. And of course to apply this kind of ridiculous power, all you've got to do is unleash it at just the right moment for someone to just walk into it or at least be maneuvered into it somehow. But! There's a bit of a shortcut...an easy way to make the Shredder work for you and make those crazy moves work for the Shredder. You just have to let them strike when other people are busy fighting each other...what with the considerable hitstun and occasional fits of dizziness as well as more than just a little windup before a move or cooldown that follows one, it's surprisingly easy to catch two flies at once on that huge sword. It doesn't matter how skilled or attentive you are, all it takes is a moment of vulnerability and the Shredder will strike you down, and I say this from having been on both ends and considered this line of reasoning explicitly whilst acting out the role of both the Shredder and the shredded. Of course, using nothing but those moves that I'm talking about would be silly, so you can't just walk around doing nothing but or you'll just whiff a lot and end up getting punished for both being slow and maybe also for being a ridiculously obvious opportunist. Oh, and for the record, this time I'm using the secondary costume for the Shredder, known as the Cyber Shredder...and I have no idea what it means or the context in which he's taken on this appearance...I'm sorry. --- Match #3 -- Cruise Ship Splinter Rabbid (Joou) vs. Nightwatcher (TMNT1) vs. April O'Neil (TMNT2) vs. Donatello (TMNT3) Some matches are won more through simple survival than battle prowess...and those cases are more like hectic comedies of errors than epic tales of great warriors meeting on the battlefield. Remember, it doesn't show up in the final scores, but an uncredited KO caused by the stage hazards (or Self Destruct in Smash Bros. terms of how they're treated) but it will be counted for deciding the player standings...it doesn't make sense, but it is how it is, so arm yourself with knowledge!
