Gunman in lawyer's attire shoots 'Ganemulla Sanjeewa' at court

Underworld figure Ganemulla Sanjeewa was shot dead following a shooting incident at the Colombo Hulftsdorp Court complex a short while ago. Police spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga said that a gunman, disguised in a lawyer's attire, carried out the attack, targeting Sanjeewa in the chamber. He was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the hospital. The revolver used in the shooting was found inside the court, and the shooter had fled after the attack. The spokesman said several police teams are investigating to arrest the shooter. Sanjeewa was brought to court this morning to be presented in relation to an ongoing court case. “Ganemulla Sanjeewa” was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake upon his return from Nepal on September 13, 2023.
