Man this thing is noisy!!! It's also unstable, the spark gap seems to make an hot spot and behaves unpredictably. But i'm happy with this coil, spark lenght is now full 30cm, i also know that we are kinda at limit, both the electronic supply and the hi-v capacitors are stressed, the saltwater capacitors sometimes flashover, i used the maximum surface of the glass to have the maximum capacitance and the sticky tin foil is near to the cap, so it bangs there sometimes, this is anyways good to avoid arcing trough the glass because of overvoltage, trashing the capacitor, in total it's 3.91nF, i used javatc ( http://www.classictesla.com/java/java... ) to come up with a primary with all the required characteristics, i made a secondary and topload 40cm high with a resonant frequency of 550kHz, i hoped more to make capacitors and primary less big but it came up anyways. I've learnt that juicing the power supply has a big effect on spark length, not only widening the spark gap, also If the stream is continuous it doesn't arc in weird places, only on the wire i've fitted, if the sparks look bushy and thin you'll not ionize the air around the needle much and it will spark all around the topload (also robbing power), the gap blower has a beneficial effect as well, i didn't use a rotary spark gap bcs it was more complex and i also realized it will increase the voltage on the capacitors too much, the thin electric wire i used all around seems to not cause too much issue and also the thin primary wire seemed to work good anyways COIL SPECS:: PRIMARY:: 13 turns adjustable to 14, 22cm diameter, 1mm copper wire, 6 meters in length of wire SECONDARY:: 1060 turns over 5cm pipe, 30cm of winding length, 0.25mm wire, 90 grams of it, 170 meters TOPLOAD:: 32mm plastic tubing wrapped in aluminum tape, 20cm total diameter
