Ross Bagdasarian - Holding You Now (Personal Vinyl Rip)

I've recently acquired this 45 that contains two tracks that would later appear on the posthumous 1973 tribute album, "A Summer Day's Delight." The A-side is "Holding You Now," the track that you're currently listening to on this upload. The B-side is Ross Sr.'s third rendition of his signature tune, "Armen's Theme," which features vocals this time around. "A Summer Day's Delight" is available on this channel by the way. The rips Mr. Charlie Chalk provided me of these two songs that were sourced from his copy of the LP will remain up. Released in March 1971 by Philips Records, this would be the last ever release to come out from Ross Sr. prior to his passing on January 16, 1972. Liberty Records had also folded into United Artists Records by this time not long after UA's parent company Transamerica Corporation bought Liberty and it's labels in 1968. So with that, former Liberty artists either remained with UA, or left altogether. In Ross Sr.'s case, it seemed to be the latter. This single is unique, in it that there is no American release of any kind that has surfaced or even documented for that matter. Ross Bagdasarian was an American musician, so it is strange that this single never saw the light of day here in North America. The single was released in the UK (where my copy was made) and Philips also released it in Australia and New Zealand. South Africa got the single as well on the MVN label. Philips had ownership of US based labels like Mercury (ironically a label Ross Sr. was signed to in the early to mid 50s) so it's really weird that no American release has surfaced at all.
