I take a look at a small creek to see if the ram pump is a good fit. When you are looking at the water source for installing a ram pump you need to look for a couple things. 1. Flow rate of the creek. Depending on the ram pump size you will need at least 2gpm for the 1/2 inch ram pump and up to 8gpm fort he 1-1/4 inch ram pump. 2. Head pressure (water drop) of the creek. Each ram pump needs a minimum of 3 feet of head pressure to get the ram pump running. This can lift water to 21 feet. 3. How high you are looking to pump water. The ram pump can lift 7 feet for each 1 foot of input head pressure. In this creek I would need to extend the drive pipe much further to get more input head pressure. The water drop that is gathered in such a short length is not enough to lift very high.
