It's the holidays and it's the return of the Windows 98 PC. You know what that means? Time for religious first person shooter action. Catechumen is a non-violent (unless you're a heathenish lion) boomer shooter released in 2000 by N'lightening Software (god I love the name) built on the Genesis3D engine. You are a Catechumen tasked with entering a Roman temple in order to save capture Christians, as well as to banish Satan and his control over the Romans. You are granted weapons from the biblical angels who have been pumping some serious iron. With your sword of the spirit you can force the Roman's to repent, taking them out of action. This game's movement is super fast. Enemies also are incredibly fast that it becomes hard to hit. My Windows 98 machine has a Pentium 4 and a Nvidia Geforce 2 and the framerate of the game was struggling in some parts, while zooming in others making the experience very inconsistent. You can get this to work under modern windows with dxwnd but be warned that if the game is running too fast you won't be able to get weapons from the angels. Otherwise, for a Christian game, this one is pretty fun. You got crazy speed, the weapons are ok? There's teleporter mazes which are always a treat.
