Cleanup efforts continue across Central New York after Sunday’s winter storm, but as temperatures drop, many sidewalks across Syracuse are becoming increasingly difficult to navigate. With snow left behind freezing over and turning into ice, residents who had to head out on foot say walking has been just as challenging as driving. While many people stayed home Monday night, others still ventured out for groceries, work, or a night out, carefully watching each step. Walking through different neighborhoods across the city, conditions varied widely. Some sidewalks were cleared, while others remained covered in packed snow or icy patches. Several residents said it often depends on where you are and who is responsible for clearing the sidewalk: the city, a business owner, or a landlord.
