Dr. Broome : So what's new this year in hip replacement surgery? Things are constantly evolving, the implants, we hope will last longer. The surgical techniques had been really refined so that we don't have to cut muscles and tissues, but we can really facilitate your recovery and the speed of the surgical procedure itself. The goal is that if we're more efficient in the operating room, your exposure to other things that can lead to infection or complications is going to be minimized. So if we can do things more accurate, and get you into the recovery room, and up and walking quicker, your body's going to recover quicker and the overall experience here. One of the things that we've seen in really high numbers recently, is a condition called Avascular necrosis of the hip. The problem with this is we're seeing this a lot in patients in their 30s and 40s. And so ones that the general consensus out there is we're too young to have surgery, that's not the case anymore. So the techniques are better so that you can have this procedure done and you can still maintain your active lifestyle without missing anything, but the implants will last longer. So it can safely be put in without having to worry about it not lasting the lifetime of of the patient. #hipreplacementrecovery #hipreplacementsurgery #hipreplacement #surgery #orthopedics #sanantonio #surgeon #surgeryrecovery Click here to learn more about Dr. Broome : https://bit.ly/SAOS-Broome We are patient-focused orthopedic specialists dedicated to providing our local community in San Antonio, Texas, with the highest quality orthopedic services.
