Here is a demonstration of what I did in order to insert my new Moen 1222 cartridge back in after having issues with an older one, which was inside for the past 20 years. My solution was to sand down the sides of the endpoint, which you can see in the video. This video is perfect for anyone who’s having issues fully inserting the 1222 cartridge into the shower and is having issues reinserting the pin. My understanding from looking stuff up online was that the new cartridges are slightly larger on the end point. Hopefully this works for those who need it. Please know that I am not a plumber or a professional and that you should do this at your own discretion. I’m pretty sure that if you try this, you’re also going to void your warranty on the part, so please bear in mind that you are altering the original product in an attempt to replace the cartridge, and that further check ups should be done to insure that no leakage occurs.
