The Dipstick® Road Profiler (Dipstick.com) -- its uses, features and benefits -- are presented in this video from its manufacturer, Face® Construction Technologies of Norfolk, Virginia USA. The Dipstick Road Profiler, a World Bank Standard Class 1 profiler, measures International Roughness Index (IRI), Half-Car IRI, and many other roughness indices. The instrument instantly calculates IRI and instantly produces graphs on-site. The Dipstick can be used on almost any near horizontal surface including pavements, bridge decks, airport runways, taxiways, etc. It instantly measures International Roughness Index (IRI); IRI half-car; AASHTO R 41; rut depth; other roughness indices; F-Numbers; straightedge specs; and it produces 3D topographical surveys. The Dipstick is used and specified in 66 countries. The World Bank, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), AASHTO (R 41-05 (2010)) and the World Road Association (PIARC) have established measurement standards using the Dipstick. The Dipstick is routinely used around the world to calibrate other profilers. In fact, the Dipstick is the most widely used and accepted Class 1 profiler for establishing road roughness reference data. Testing labs, building owners, developers, contractors, universities, research institutions and government agencies on six continents choose the Dipstick because it produces the most accurate and repeatable flatness/levelness data. Dipstick readings are accurate to less than 0.0005" (that's 5/10,000ths of an inch!). No other instrument comes close. This video concentrates on the use of the Dipstick in measuring the flatness, levelness and rideability of roads, pavements, etc.
