(If you happened to see an earlier version of this video, I realized that there were a couple errors in the editing I had to fix, so I re-uploaded!) This is The Kremling Kronology. My longterm effort to explore every game and officially-endorsed Nintendo material featuring my favorite krocodile kreatures that I possibly can. 🐊☠️ In this episode, I revisit the kreative interpretation of Donkey Kong Land portrayed in its novelization. We also take a look at an official Nintendo guide booklet for the game, including some very enthusiastic reviews. We realize no one wants to own up to the actual fourth-wall-shattering story of this game, and will pretend it's about ANYTHING else. This ended up being a somewhat brief session, cut short by an oncoming illness, and thus there's one more episode of DKL content to go! Thanks to JeroRomero for providing the HD version of the meme Rock Kroc used in the thumbnail. Check out this fantastic interview with Paul Machacek to learn more about the development of Donkey Kong Land and other Rare games! https://dkvine.com/?p=podcasts&show=k... And this is still... CHAPTER 1: THE BIRTH OF BANANA BANDITRY For ages, the Kongs of Donkey Kong Island had maintained an uneasy peace with their neighbors, the Kremlings of Crocodile Isle. An ancient piratical empire, the Kremlings became known in the modern era for their industrialism and military might, even setting up their destructive factories on DK Isle itself - a place they had long laid some claim to with their own temples, after all. For the Kongs, it wasn't worth the immense risk of challenging the crocs and forcing them to stop their polluting and piratical proclivities. That is, until a certain King, who koveted the Kongs' bounty, brought the konflict to the primates more personally than ever before. And thus did a single act of theft entwine the destinies of the young Donkey Kong and the King of the Kremlings, and set into motion a tale that would have much greater konsequences than any of the reptiles could have foreseen.
