Ponnalai is a beautiful place.there is a natural sea side (beach) back side of this temple and it is a village. This place about (22) kilometers from Jaffna town. Next to moolai . Ponnalai kirushanan kovil it is a Hindu’s temple. And one of the ancient temple in Jaffna. This temple dedicated for lord Perumal. It’s called as Varatharajah perumal kovil,kannan kovil and Kirushnan kovil. The holy theertham of this temple is oceanic sea. The vanni tree growing in temple premise is believed to bear some divine significance. And there is a special festival also and it’s held on two different occasions. One is on August month. 2nd is on December month for ten days. This occasion call as Vaikunda aakadeshi or thiruvenpaavai. And there is two times chariot festival in a year. Every Sunday also there is a special pooja in this temple. There is lot of devotees and tourist comes and visits this temple and they enjoy well this beech side nature. This journey will take an hour from Jaffna town.
