The Northside Movement Center is officially open! On February 27th, 2026, we had the honor of hosting our Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting. This video includes the full remarks from the ribbon cutting. Speakers include Kayla Reed, Blake Strode, Pastor Burton, Michelle Higgins, Stephanie Grise, Jamala Rogers, and Percy Green. For generations, North St. Louis has been the heart of Black life, creativity, and resistance.Yet, decades of disinvestment and displacement have stripped our neighborhoods of the spaces where people gather, organize, and build power together. The Northside Movement Center (NMC) will change that. Located in the heart of North St. Louis, this new grassroots community hub will bring advocacy, organizing, and direct services together under one roof, anchored by two of St. Louis’ leading justice organizations: Action St. Louis and ArchCity Defenders. This is more than a building. It’s a commitment to the people of North St. Louis. It’s where we will defend, dream, and build the future our communities deserve.
