Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute's Adult Cardiac Transplant Heart Program at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood is the only one of its kind in Broward County—and one of only two programs in South Florida—to offer total heart care, including heart transplantation. Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute received approval from UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) in April 2014 to launch an adult heart transplantation program at Memorial. Prior to UNOS approval, statistics revealed a large number of patients did not have sufficient access to heart transplant services, prompting many to seek such services outside South Florida and even the state. Our highly skilled, multidisciplinary team of cardiac specialists works together to provide comprehensive cardiac care to patients in need of a heart transplant, including individuals with: Arrhythmia Cardiogenic shock Cardiomyopathy Congenital heart disease End-stage coronary disease or valvular disease End-stage heart failure Myocarditis The Adult Cardiac Transplant Heart Program is made up of a board-certified transplant cardiologist and cardiac surgeon with an established reputation in adult cardiac transplantation.
