Those aspiring to serve in an executive-level role often fail to realize how much of an impact their peer relationships will have on achieving this goal. Seasoned CEO's will always solicit confidential input from these peers, asking if they'd have any issues reporting to the person being considered for a C-Level promotion. If enough negative vibes are felt, the CEO will most likely not promote that person, out of fear of causing stress, divisiveness and attrition within the senior leadership ranks.
