Lavinia Bertotti, soprano Ensemble Laus Concentus Isabella was clearly a musician of some ability and also had a gift for poetic and musical improvisation. Cosimo Bottegari, a Florentine musician who spent some time at the Tuscan court, included in his lute book an arrangement for solo voice and lute of a piece whose text may be by Isabella, 'Lieta vivo et contenta.' The arrangement is based on a madrigal, probably by Filippo de Monte, published in a collection of 6-voice madrigals by Monte and others. Bottegari did not know the composer's name and captioned the piece "di Autore Incerto," to which a later hand added 'idest Sra Isabella Medici.'— Frank D'Accone, Corteccia's motets for the Medici marriages of 1558, 2003
