The 'Man in Black' takes Japan (actually British Columbia). Support: / pseudiom Twitter: / pseudiom "Kairei (1983)" may appear baffling upon discovery. A Japanese-Christian movie, largely in English, that features Johnny Cash, but was never released in any English speaking country. The confusing mystery behind "Kairei" goes deep, but its direct origins are simple. An adaptation of Japanese novelist Miura Ayako''s 1981 novel of the same name that was in turn based upon the story of the "Three Kichis". Three Japanese sailors who, after being swept out to the Pacific, took a world tour to return home. In the same manner, the story of "Kairei (1983)" traveled around the globe only to also end up in obscurity (in both English and Japanese).
