Some years ago I discovered Bernina Gran Turismo, an event born in 2014 with the aim of keep the memory of the legendary Bernina hillclimb race (in Switzerland) of 1929 and 1930 alive, but I've never managed to attend this event because it was always in conjunction with others racing weekends. For 2021 the organizers decided to celebrate the whole International St. Moritz Automobile Week of 1929 and 1930, which consisted of a rally, the kilometer race, a skill race, a beauty competition and finally the Bernina hillclimb. This video is from last Friday, 'Day 0' of Bernina Gran Turismo when all the participants had to complete their registrations and technical checks so this means it was quite a static part. But during the day there was no lack of engine starts and after lunch, the participants moved to the top of Bernina Pass to get ready for the next two days, so there was quite a good coming and going of cars. Started on Thursday and ended on Friday, there was also the Concours d'Elegance which has been called 'Motorsport Rendezvous'. This doesn't aim to be the more traditional line-up of over-restored luxury cars, but more focused on racing and sports cars. Stay tuned for the actual hillclimb footage coming in the next days!
