The hike to Yellow Aster Butte is a Northwest Classic, and continuing on to Tomyhoi Peak makes it even more special. Most people camp among the tarns at the base of the final climb to Yellow Aster Butte, but Gold Rush Pass and ridges along Tomyhoi Peak offer other fantastic camping opportunities for the adventuresome. The side trip from the south summit ridge of Tomyhoi Peak to the north summit overlooking Tomyhoi Lake is well worth the effort, as the landscape is other-worldly.
