Singapore says it has been the target of terrorist plots for years and that it's only a matter of 'when' and not 'if' terrorists will strike. The cosmopolitan financial hub, comes second only to Tokyo in The Economist Intelligence Unit's Safe Cities Index, last year. However, that did not stop authorities from holding terror attack drills and warning its citizens, as it prepares to host defence ministers from around Southeast Asia this week.  According to Singapore's Ministry of Home Affairs, the republic continues to face a serious security threat from both homegrown radicalised individuals and foreign terrorists who continue to see Singapore as a prized target. Authorities say the island nation had been a target of terrorists since the 1990s, efforts to deter terrorism have been stepped up markedly in recent years, with more frequent attacks on western countries.
