Written by Joe South, 'Walk A Mile In My Shoes' is a song which concerns racial tolerance and the need for perspective and compassion. It would be one of ten songs which Elvis would introduce to his setlist during the opening show of his second Las Vegas season on 26 January 1970. He would continue to sing the song throughout this season and at all six shows at the Houston Astrodome at the conclusion of that January / February 1970 Las Vegas season. After Houston Elvis would perform the song live just three more times and all on consecutive midnight shows in Las Vegas. These three performances would be on the 11-13 August and the first two would be in front of MGM's cameras, and the last at the first show after main filming for TTWII had ceased. The August 1970 versions would all be abbreviated versions as the middle verse would be inexplicably be omitted. The other main difference was that whilst the Jan/Feb versions was segued into a medley with 'In The Ghetto' which tied two songs with a similar theme together. In August 1970 the only performance of 'In The Ghetto' would have 'Don't Cry Daddy' in place of 'Walk A Mile In My Shoes'.
