Padargad Fort isn’t just another trek, it’s raw, tough and one of the least explored trails in Maharashtra. Here’s how we took it on. 📍 How to Reach By Private Vehicle: Base village is Khandas. Two-wheelers have pay & park options. For four-wheelers, you’ll need to coordinate with locals as we saw few vehicles parked safely. By Public Transport: You can reach either from Karjat or Neral station. From Karjat → Eco Van costs ₹1500 (flat, regardless of group size). Better if you’re 7–8 people, else you’ll need to wait for others. From Neral → Rickshaw till Khandas costs around ₹1000, but you can negotiate (we managed at ₹600). Return trip: Only Eco Vans are available around ₹1200 (Neral) / ₹1500 (Karjat). Try sharing with other trekkers to split costs. Trek Trail The initial trail till the plateau is easy to follow. Post that, there’s a diversion for Bhimashankar and Padargad. Most trekkers recommend taking the water well diversion, but due to rains and fallen branches we mistakenly ended up on a different trail via carved rock steps. Eventually, we found the correct route and completed the trek. At the end of my vlog, I’ve shown the exact stream-side trail that makes it easier to navigate. Difficulty & Risks Padargad is not recommended in monsoon. The trail becomes extremely slippery, and even good trekking shoes won’t help. Beyond the chimney patch, there are two vertical rope climbs which are very risky during rains. I could not record these two climbs as our priority was safety as one slip here could turn into a fatal. Best season for this trek is winter or summer. Avoid it if you’re physically unfit. Always carry safety gear (helmets, harness, ropes). Even experienced groups with gear had to turn back on the same day we went. This was a thrilling but challenging experience for us and definitely not a beginner-friendly trek. Watch till the end to see the tricky sections, tips, and how we managed.
