The perfect middle-class couple are holding a dinner party when Nicholas (Derek Godfrey) gets a telephone call from Sheila (Priscilla Morgan), the mother of his teenage daughter Joan (Tessa Wyatt), saying that she can no longer stand to be with her and he must look after her now. Broadcast 5th September 1966 as part of the "Plays of Married Life" strand, this was Fay Weldon's first work for television.
