Teacher welfare - VP Alupo addresses teacher welfare and educational Initiatives

The Vice President Maj. Jessica Alupo reaffirmed the government's commitment to addressing issues concerning teachers' welfare and well-being, emphasizing their significant role within the broader government policy framework. This was during an address to head teachers from Eastern Uganda who were attending a 14-day retreat at the National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi. Alupo commended the substantial turnout of head teachers at the retreat and expressed her confidence in engaging them on various policy matters related to secondary school teachers, teacher welfare, education management systems, access to secondary education, and curriculum development, among others. Recognizing the pivotal role of teachers in Uganda's development agenda, Alupo cited the 1992 Government White Paper on Education, which underscores the importance of well-trained teachers in establishing effective connections between schools and communities, positively influencing national development programs, and preparing the human resources essential for the country's progress.
