Digital compliance only really matters when it works on the ground. That’s why Peter Haddock recently visited GRS Stone Supplies to see how it now manages material compliance in real time through SoilFLO. Standing in the weighbridge, which is the nerve centre of its operation at Dunford Quarry near Bristol, Peter caught up with Michelle Down to see its digital transformation working in real life. Michelle: “At Dunford, we have a 7.4 million tonne inert void to fill before the site is handed over and repurposed for future use. So it’s critical that every load meets our compliance standards. "This process now starts digitally before a vehicle even reaches our site in what we call the pre-acceptance stage. This is completed online by our customers who fill in key information, which we then assess to ensure it meets our compliance criteria. "We then issue an electronic waste transfer note, which our customers can print off for their hauliers. This is then accepted by our weighbridge team, who scan it into our system and release the load for tipping into the quarry. A process that now takes around 20 seconds. “This then triggers our invoicing and all of that information is stored for and accessible to make it easy to surrender the site and prove that we’ve caused no risk to the environment or to human health.” “It has removed so much paperwork and eliminated human error, streamlining every part of the process, whilst tracking every load, which is great for our customers and us." #digitalconstruction #earthworks #constructiontech #soiltracking
