Allegro Rondo- Adagio Tempo di minuetto Marianne von Martinez was part of the generation that was experiencing the transition from the harpsichord and the baroque style to the fortepiano and the Galant style. Her music encompasses both as Burney stated by citing Metastasio “a most agreable Mescolanza of antico e modern” and adding “a mixture of the harmony, a contrivance of old times, with the melody and taste of the present”. A galant melody formed by small upbeat motives that Martinez repeats, embellishes, and varies, pervades the first movement which symmetry reminds of that of the Baroque binary form. The expressive melody of the second movement, filled with "sigh" motives (appoggiaturas) is closer to the Empindsamer style of CPE Bach. The last movement is a minuet, where the voices dialogue and conclude almost every phrase with the same gracious recurring cadential form.
