Did you know that the Victoria Falls bridge was a brainchild of John Cecil Rhodes as part of this grand and unfulfilled dream to create an economic Transport system from Cape to Cairo? In this Episode of Today with Zamtel, I had the opportunity to explore History bits and pieces of the British South Africa Company (The BSA) and its economic interests in Northern Rhodesia Present day Zambia. Our Production crew focuses on how John Cecil Rhodes the founder of the British South Africa Company pushed British influence into the region of present day Zambia as part of the Scramble for Africa by obtaining mineral rights from local chiefs under questionable treaties. We also highlight his dream to extend the British Empire north, linking the Cape of Good Hope and Cairo.
