World Sight Day was celebrated at SuVi Eye Hospital and Research Centre, Talwandi, Kota, India on October 13 and 14, 2010. On this occasion, an eye camp was organized in collaboration with Rajasthan Patrika and a free eye checkup was performed by a team of eye doctors- Dr. Suresh K Pandey, Dr. Vidushi Sharma, and Dr. Nidhi Verma. A total of 1134 patients benefited. A public seminar on the topic of "common eye problems and their treatment" was held at the SuVi Eye Institute campus (www.suvieye.com) About DR. VIDUSHI SHARMA, MD (AIIMS), FRCS (UK) Dr. Vidushi Sharma did her basic medical education (MBBS) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. She then did post-graduation in Ophthalmology from the prestigious RP Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi. Thereafter pursued ophthalmic education in the UK and obtained an FRCS degree from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, UK. She then joined as a Senior Resident in the Oculoplastic Unit of RP Centre AIIMS and worked there for three years. She then pursued her interest in Oculoplastic surgery further at the Sydney Eye Hospital, University of Sydney, Australia, and did a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery and Pediatric ophthalmology subspecialties. She returned to India and set up the SuVi Eye Institute and Research Centre (www.suvieye.com) with her husband, Dr. Suresh K. Pandey, at Kota in February 2006. Dr. Vidushi has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals including such prestigious ones as the Archives of Ophthalmology and the American Journal of Ophthalmology. She has also presented papers at major international ophthalmic conferences including the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Vidushi has been invited to deliver keynote lectures related to Changing Trends in Medical Practice, Practice Management, Group Medical practice, etc. by various forums. Dr. Vidushi can be reached at [email protected] About Dr. Suresh K Pandey- A medical graduate of Rani Durgawati University, Medical College, Jabalpur, M.P., India; Dr. Pandey completed his residency in Ophthalmology from the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. He worked at the University of Utah, USA & University of Sydney, Australia from1998 to 2006. Dr. Pandey returned to India in 2006 to establish SuVi Eye Institute and Research Cente at Kota, Rajasthan, India (www.suvieye.com). Dr. Pandey has presented more than 150 scientific papers in various international ophthalmological meetings and authored more than 100 scientific papers/communications, 50 textbook chapters, and 10 ophthalmic textbooks. In 2005, Dr. Pandey was invited to demonstrate Live Surgery at an international meeting in Milan, Italy. Dr. Pandey received several prestigious awards for his research & surgical innovations, which include Best-of-Show Video Award, Best Poster Award, Best-Paper-of-the-Session Award for the surgical videos, scientific posters, and papers in the national and international ophthalmology congresses.
