Your mind and body work best when they are on the same team. But it’s challenging to keep your mind focused on one thing at a time. There are so many ways you can get distracted and sometimes it can affect your physical performance. For some people, there is no room for giving in to distractions because it could mean the difference between life and death. My name is Dr. Tom Naro, creator of My PT. And my mission is to lead others to better health through movement and wholeness. To help me do that today is my friend Shihan Randy Haskins. Before we get into a few questions, I want to give our listeners some background. I met Shihan Haskins in 2003 at Springfield College as a student of his Karate class. Shihan Haskins has 40+ years studying martial sciences, he’s former military police and retired corrections officer. He has tested and proven his self defense techniques on several real life situations. He teaches his style at his Underground Alliance Martial Science Research Association Hombu Dojo in Springfield MA. So, Shihan Haskins.. 1. What motivates you to train in self defense and gain martial understanding? What ways do you use to tap into that motivation? 2. In your latest book, Martial Advice For Training & Living The UA Way, you mention EFFORTLESS EFFORT. What does EFFORTLESS EFFORT mean and how does a person reach that level in their physical abilities? 3. If a person does not study martial skills, what advice do you have for them to support their physical endeavor or improve their confidence in staying active?
