A stop, A suspect in the back of a cruiser, A pursuit, A pause, and a continuing of pursuit, A crazy driver, A pit maneuver Along with some Interesting utterances from the driver from the backseat of cruiser So LISTEN closely when driver is in the back of the cruiser. It’s pretty funny. seeing that the passenger took off with his truck.🤪😂 Friday, January 28, 2021, Trooper First Class Cory Earls (A62), was on a traffic stop when the vehicle (V1) fled from him. He could not pursue due to having a prisoner from the same traffic stop. V1 was described as a Red F150 with Michigan tags. I was in the area of SH365 which is where V1 was last seen. Around 1440hrs, I was coming up behind 2 other Troopers, but at the time did not know who they were. V1 passed us going the opposite direction. I heard A62 identify V1 as the vehicle which passed us. A62 had since dropped his prisoner off with another Trooper and was circulating the area. I made eye contact with the driver (S1), of V1 as he passed me, while I was turning around. V1 failed to stop and immediately fled, passing another vehicle on a double yellow line, in a curve. I caught up with V1 and he continued to flee. V1 began to intentionally travel in the opposing lane of traffic, with traffic present. V1 also intentionally swerved at oncoming vehicles. Oncoming traffic had to drive onto the shoulder of the road in order to avoid being struck head on by V1. More than once, V1 acted as if he was going to turn onto a side road, but then would take off again. V1 recklessly attempted to avoid spike strips that had been set across the road by Trooper Niles (A28). V1 ran off the road and began an uncontrollable skid and counterclockwise rotation directly toward A28. V1 regained control of V1 without striking A28, who took cover behind a brick pillar. Due to the complete wanton disregard for the safety of others, by the manner of driving as well as traveling more than double the speed limit, approaching the city limits of North Little Rock, and an elementary school which was in the process of letting out, I made the decision to utilize vehicular legal intervention as soon as I could effectively do so. I had already seen a school bus and was not willing to just let V1 continue to endanger the public. V1 slowed and began to make a right turn, but since he had done this previously and not completed the turn, I had no faith he was actually going to make the turn. I intentionally struck the rear of V1 with the front of my patrol car which was equipped with a PIT bumper. When I struck V1, it lifted the rear of V1 onto the hood of my patrol car, lifting the rear wheels of V1 off the ground. V1 then rotated to the right, while I continued forward and into the ditch along side of railroad tracks. As V1 became separated from my patrol car, it struck a white passenger vehicle (V2), which was stopped at the intersection, waiting to turn. V1 struck the front and driver’s side of V2 as it rotated clockwise and knocked V2 onto the railroad tracks. Several law enforcement units arrived on scene and began dealing with S1 and V1. I made sure that there was not a threat of crossfire and then turned my attention to the driver of V2. She was slumped over the enter console area of V2. The horn of V2 was going off, nonstop and was very loud. As I got closer to S2 I could tell she was screaming and covering her head with her arms. I began hitting the front passenger window with both open hands and yelling at her (the horn was stuck on and there were several sirens as well as commands being yelled by responding officers to the suspect at the same time) to look at me. I was able to get her attention and tell her she was OK. We could not get the driver’s door open, so I had her climb across to the passenger seat and climb out that door. She was still screaming and crying and could barely stand up. I held on to her reassured her that she was ok and that it was ok to be scared. I asked her if there was anyone else in the vehicle with her because I saw 2 child booster seats in the back. She confirmed that she was alone in the vehicle. I wanted to get her away from her vehicle with the horn still going off and farther away from S1. We had to help her up the embankment and turned her over to NLRFD rescue personnel to check her out.
