"Milk makes tired men cheerful" and bones strong... did you also grow up with this or similar wisdom? While grandmas still wanted to force us to drink our daily glass of #milk at all costs, #cow's milk has lost quite a bit of its reputation in recent years. According to the "milk opponents," milk and dairy products are suspected of causing intestinal problems, allergies, and even carcinogenicity and diseases like high blood pressure or acne—a whole range of things. Not to mention the ethical concerns. Case closed, so everything clear? It's not quite that simple, at least from a health perspective. What do science and #nutritional medicine actually say? So it's worth taking a closer look at the positive and negative myths surrounding cow's milk. Do you like my channel and would you like to say thank you? I read something incredibly interesting while preparing for this topic: Humans have been drinking cow's milk for around 7,500 years. A new study even suggests that a large proportion of Central Europeans didn't begin to tolerate cow's milk until much later. The ability to tolerate cow's milk may have only developed widely in the last 3,200 years. And I also wasn't really aware until now that we humans are the only living beings that continue to consume breast milk after weaning, and that we do so from another species, namely cows, and not from our mothers. So, those who can tolerate milk can potentially benefit from its healthy nutrients. Growing children and adolescents in particular are therefore advised to drink milk. But do we absolutely need dairy products to grow up and age healthily? As long as there aren't any calves among my viewers, I can confidently answer this question with "no." Proof of this is enough to look at the numerous countries and regions where milk isn't a staple food. All of the healthy nutrients in milk can also be obtained through other foods. Well, cow's milk is certainly not irreplaceable. But that alone is of course no argument for avoiding, for example, the daily splash of milk in your coffee or your morning cereal. Possible indications of harmful health risks from milk consumption, however, would certainly be. So, what's the truth? Is milk healthy or unhealthy?
