Back in my younger days...fog lights were a truly functional light that could be turned on to improve nighttime visibility in foggy or rainy conditions. This was accomplished by turning the headlights OFF and turning the fog lights on. These were generally always high powered, amber colored aftermarket lights. In reality...they did a great job. This is in direct contrast to what the industry now calls fog lights. Which, in my opinion, are just an extra pair of useless lights (pretty...but with minimal beneficial use for improving visibility while driving in fog or heavy rain). They can only be operated with the low beam headlights on...which many times reflect off the fog/rain and actually decrease visibility. This, generally speaking, makes them worthless. I have read several great articles, posts and videos that go to some amazing and complicated lengths to be able to control the fog light switch separate from the low beam headlights. My goal is something that is simple, inexpensive and will work with no negative repercussions (at least for me!). This 5.5 minute video shows how I did the modification for my GX470. As always...my thanks to all of those that provided their DIY mods on Facebook and forums and for the inspiration for doing this much needed modification! For the BEST deal on purchasing fuse taps and additional fuses. I would suggest this kit available on Amazon. 3 taps, 3 inline fuse links and 120 assorted mini fuses...all for about $12. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...
