A full 18-hole round at Moose Run Golf Course on GSPro — golf simulator gameplay, no commentary, just the course and the music. Moose Run Golf Course is one of the premier military golf operations in the world. The Creek Course is the longest layout in Alaska, winding through a reclaimed gravel pit, along Ship Creek, with the Chugach Mountains as the backdrop. When architect Robin Nelson and his crew built it in the late 1990s, they reportedly had to contend with brown bears, moose, lynx, and wolves on the property. When I saw this course pop up again, I knew I had to play it. It had been a long time since I’d thought about it, but it brought back a lot of memories. During my time in the military, we were stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska, and I used to work the driving range there on weekends before my son was born. The military was one of the greatest experiences of my life; jumping out of planes, kicking ass, and protecting freedom...the golf here was a bonus. The course was rugged, beautiful, and the Creek Course was just plain hard. Moose would wander across the greens, leaving hoofprints; black bears would cross the fairways… but it was an incredible place to play golf, and sneak in a couple of post-championships there during my time.
