This video draws attention to different groups in situations of vulnerability in the Americas and encourages health workers to adapt LIVES to the specific needs and preferences of survivors in all their diversity. First-line support provides practical care and responds to a survivor’s emotional, physical, safety and support needs, without intruding on her privacy. First-line support may be the most important care that a health worker can provide and will greatly help survivors. The LIVES series takes its name from the acronym used as a reminder of the key five tasks involved in first-line support: 1.- Listen 2.- Inquire about needs and concerns 3.- Validate 4.- Enhance Safety 5.- Support. The video is part of a series of videos developed by PAHO to strengthen the capacity of health workers on how to respond to survivors of intimate partner violence and non-partner sexual violence against women.
