The emotion of fear and the feeling of uncertainty has been a shared experience this year. The introduction of new guidelines, the restrictions to our free-will and the health worries has caused a major shift in our day-to-day living; how we work, learn, interact, socialise and dine. Society has also been undergoing major changes economically, politically and socially. Many feel fearful, others aim to continue living their lives as “normal’ as they can, but the truth is - a lot of uncertainty still exists in how the world will be in the next few months to the next year and beyond. Personally, the pandemic greeted me with new challenges emotionally. I was faced by a familiar darkness that I met previously a few years ago. My outlook in life shifted, my values compromised and my self-worth reduced to a grain of sand. I was lost. The support I’ve received from significant people in my life and extending my arm for support has helped me walk through my most vulnerable path. Though I am still walking through it, I am walking. The last few months have taught me that in spite of the difficulties we may face we hold inner strength. It’s what helps get through our most challenging times - it’s called Courage. We only really notice this when we reach our most vulnerable state. It is Courage that triggers the first few steps to help us fight back. Courage that enables to reach out for help. Courage that brings people together through challenging times, and it is Courage that has brought us to where we are today. In the face of adversity one must stay resilient. As the moment we let go, we lose ourselves. Our individualities is our strength, but surviving together as a people is our hope for humanity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blood On The Dance Floor (BOTDF) is a short story that depicts the confusion, the fear, the anger and the resistance against the ever-changing environment and the pressures from authority. Inspired factors includes those that have taken place in 2020 with a combination of my personal struggles. The film is also greatly inspired by the artistry and the genius of Michael Jackson who has always sought to tell meaningful storylines with the use of dance and cinematography in his short films - e.g. Thriller, Bad, Black or White, Moonwalker & Ghosts. The current project is an homage to Michael, especially given that Halloween is custom for many of his theme songs, and a reminder that he will forever be the greatest! Lastly, the release of BOTDF brings us to a two-year celebration of my collaboration with videographer and friend, Mamun, who has respected my vision and aimed to bring it out alive in our biggest project yet! My performance with dancers Manoj and Kevin has been long-overdue and as big MJ fans as myself, this was the perfect project to have them involved. A massive thank you to Rohith, Jayen, Kas and Sunny for supporting the production and bringing the storyline alive with acting performances. A massive thank you to SWG, aka SingleWhiteGlove, for the approval to use his incredible remix of Blood On The Dance Floor! — Prash Kumara -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music: Hans Zimmer - MOUNTAINS Hans Zimmer - THE WORMHOLE Michael Jackson - BLOOD ON THE DANCE FLOOR (SWG Remastered Extended Remix) (Original Link: • BLOOD ON THE DANCE FLOOR (SWG Remastered E... ) Secession Studios - LUCIFER’S WALTZ Directed & Produced by: Prash Kumara Director of Photography: Shuhaj Mamun Creative Direction / Concept / Script by: Prash Kumara Edit by: Shuhaj Mamun / Prash Kumara Crew: Colour Grade - Shuhaj Mamun Crew Assistant 1 - Sunny Sharma Crew Assistant 2 - Jayen Wimalendran Cast (In Order Of Appearance): Prash Kumara As Himself Government Official Rohith Muhundan Doctor Kas Sothirajah Manager Jayen Wimalendran Government Officer 1 Manojj Marc Muralee Government Officer 2 Kevin Muralee Kidnapped Victim Sunny Sharma Dancers: Prash Kumara Manojj Marc Muralee Kevin Muralee Choreography by: Prash Kumara #MichaelJackson #BloodOnTheDanceFloor #ShortFilm #Halloween2020 #Ghost #PrashKumara
