The wonderful Edo Righini is leaving the CvA to become director of the Muziekgebouw Frits Philips Eindhoven Last Monday a musical farewell was organized and for those who missed it, here is the contribution of the guitar department. Here is my spoken introduction to the music Edo we are going to miss you in Amsterdam. Before you became director of the Jazz department, you’ve been for many years with us at the guitar department of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam , also as a student. First you swapped the wonderful Tuscany with these crazy Netherlands to become a musician. You definitely succeeded in that, but you went on, wanted more. Did an extensive job at our school, taught technique and wrote a whole curriculum for that. Started the CvA on-line. What an incredible work horse you are. Then - like we say in Dutch, you even hung your guitar on the willows. A sacrifice to help us through by becoming director of the Jazz department. You even kept on studying on a university along the way, while being a caring daddy as well, wow. Where do find the energy ! You might not know this when I talk about you at home or with the guitar staff we refer to you as Edo8. A reference of course to the great Roland Drum machine of the eighties. And the 8 probably means you 8 times as hard as we do, or your 8 Days a Week mentality. You really gave it ALL. We couldn’t be here a the four of us to play a live tribute to you so we came up with this video. Since you gave it All.
