A classic country song written by Kris Kristofferson in 1969 which, when released by Johnny Cash in 1970 became a big enough hit that it allowed Kristofferson to quit his job due to it's financial success. Bob Dylan sites this as the song the changed country music for the better due to the depth and quality of the lyrics and imagery, during a time when country music was in need of some high quality songs. We often do this song as an opener for a regular Sunday show we do and never grow tired of singing it. This version was done just this week, to honor Kris, five days after his passing.
