Snowy walk through the cozy streets of Reykjavík, Iceland

On October 28th, 2025, we woke up to a completely snow-covered Reykjavík 🪄☃️ In fact, it was a new snow record! 😲❄️🏆 Snow in October in Reykjavík is not uncommon, but this much is absolutely extraordinary ☃️ In the morning, 27 cm (almost 11 inches) of snowfall was measured, and throughout the day it kept on snowing and snowing 🏔️🌨️ Finally, it stopped late in the afternoon! 40 cm (almost 16 inches) of snow fell in total on this October day in Reykjavík 📍🇮🇸 The police asked that everyone be home before 3 pm to avoid complete traffic chaos 👮🏼🚔 Many cars and buses got stuck and blocked traffic completely ⛔️🚗 Luckily, I can walk to and from work 😅 It gave me a chance to test my new winter boots on the icy sidewalks 🥾🧊 Luckily, they passed! 🌟 Combined with microspikes, I’m sure they’ll get me safely through the winter 😁 Make sure to bring sturdy boots and microspikes starting now and until March! 📆
