Today on-board Blood Bike SANDY ( BMW 1250RT ) on the Rider Assessment program undergoing Observation from HAIBB Assessment and Training Manager, Mr Karel Burgoyne. Karel is also the Deputy Chief Motorcycle Observer with the Highland IAM Roadsmart group based in Inverness, so no pressure! My previous assessment ride was carried out 3 years ago, we look upon it as our "Rider MOT", a part of the HAIBB Rider Safety & Assessment continuous evaluation program which is a requirement for riders to maintain and demonstrate a satisfactory level of competence.  The "re-assessment" ride period is reduced to 2 years if the rider is aged 65+ years.  After carrying out the normal checks on the motorcycle; the pre-test ride administration checks including the base protocols; the test route was discussed in clear detail; we were now all ready for departure; no helmet comms were in use. The first part of the ride had us setting off along Longman Road, the route departing Inverness and heads southward on the A9 dual carriageway as far as the junction and turn off to Fort Augustus. Continuing on the B851 road now through the small settlements of Inverarnie and Farr, further onwards to a position where Karel made an overtake to lead the ride, pulling over to the first debrief stop, just before the small settlement of Croachy. The feedback from his debrief was well noted and well received, with part 1 now complete, it was time to remount and continue on to Part 2.
