I tried to create a perfectly constrained mechanical design… and it was way harder than I expected. This started as a simple sketch—but quickly turned into a challenge of precision. Every circle, every arc, every line had to be fully defined with exact dimensions. No guesswork. No freedom left. Just pure constraint. The goal? Make a design where nothing can move unless I want it to. Using FreeCAD 1.0.2, I built this entire sketch step by step: Multiple concentric circles Tangent arcs with exact angles (yes… even that 135° one) Precise distances and alignments And making sure EVERYTHING is fully constrained But the real moment? When the sketch finally turned green… meaning it was 100% constrained. That’s when I knew it was ready. Then I took it to the next level. I used the Pad feature and extruded the entire design 20 mm symmetrically to the plane, turning a flat sketch into a clean 3D model with perfect balance on both sides. This project is all about: Precision Patience And learning how powerful parametric design can be If you're into engineering, CAD, or just love building things that are perfectly defined, this one’s for you. Let me know—would you have done this differently?
