1. Maruyama park The weeping cherry tree of Maruyama Park is one of Kyoto's most iconic trees. Local people call The tree "Gion shidare-zakura" (weeping cherry tree of Gion). As the first tree, which lived over 200 years, was dead, the second tree was planted in 1949. The weeping cherry tree at the Honmanji temple is its sister. In this park, you find another big cherry tree on the hillside. Try to find it! Many tourists come to the park during the cherry trees in full bloom. There are food vendors lining both sides of the walkway. so it's quite lively! At night, the trees are illuminated from late March to early April (18:00 to 22:00).
