Zoom recorded on September 5, 2023 TITLE OF PRESENTATION: Beauty (part one) The world is no more than the Beloved's face. In the desire of the One to know its own beauty, we exist. ~ Ghalib Let’s enjoy an interactive talk on the subject of beauty—the feeling and the frequency—the wonder, the appreciation, and the awe. There are only two books I’ve found on the subject of Beauty itself. Beauty: The Invisible Embrace by John O’Donohue Beauty and the Soul: The Extraordinary Power of Everyday Beauty to Heal Your Life by Piero Ferruci. Further research led me to Yoga Journal Magazine. Specifically, I loved an article by Shannon Schneider about traveling with a group to India and deciding as a group to wear only Indian clothing while they were there. “As I devoted myself to the ritual of beautification in the Indian dawn, I began to see this nurturing of appearance as a sacred act, as though I were dressing and adorning a goddess. It was as if, by treating my outer self as sacred, I was celebrating my embodiment, and honoring the Divine within me.” Another article by Christopher Wallis describes, “in classical tantric philosophy, the yogi seeks to perceive all things as they really are: a manifestation of the Divine Light of consciousness . . . to see all things as equally beautiful. . . You can cultivate your capacity to see yourself and all reality in this way by holding the awareness of innate beauty shining through all that you do. As elders, let’s be on the lookout for beauty in its truest meaning. What if we develop our aesthetic eye? Might it become an invitation to how each of our lives may be perceived as a work of art, a masterpiece in the making? PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF; HISTORY, CREDENTIALS, LIFE EXPERIENCES: I am an 82-year-old woman who has mastered reinvention in her life, authored many books, founded a spectacular networking organization, spent 56 years in two deeply romantic marriages, been widowed twice, who is embarking on a road trip to surrender through downsizing and moving into the completion of her lifetime through choosing an adventurous voluntary simplicity.
